What steps is your company taking to ensure that mesothelioma asbestos exposure is not occurring in the work place? For many going to work on a daily basis the last thing they consider is the danger they may be putting themselves and their family in.

Recently 31 states recognize that cancer development in firefighters is likely due to conditions the firefighters were exposed to on the job. There are states that realize that cancer is an occupational illness, and offer employees such as firefighters workers compensation to help assist with some of their heathcare expenses What happened to the other 29 states? All states should recognize this?

One such reason may be the length of time it takes to develop the symptoms. Mesothelioma is one such cancer. Asbestos, a highly toxic material, is the cause of mesothelioma. Mesothelioma’s biggest danger lies in the legnth of time it takes to see symptoms, which can take any where from 20-50 years. (20-30 years)

Another industry afflicted by high rates of mesothelioma asbestos exposure is the automotive industry. Recently there have been many cases in the United Kingdom dealing with asbestos related disease.

Asbestos was used predominately in the automotive industry due to the fact that asbestos has a high endurance to heat and friction. Vehicles manufactured today are still built with asbestos brakes and clutches, just in smaller quantities than older parts.

The real issue is that these tiny fibers are able to stay airborne for such long periods of time. Asbestos, because of it’s inperceitible fibers, can remain airborne for long periods of time making it bad for anyone working or living around it.

Many times the mechanics are forgotten as ones that are exposed to asbestos on a regular basis. Many times older vehicles will have asbestos material in the the break pads, mechanics working on these cars need to take great care against exposure.

Make sure your work place is free from mesothelioma asbestos exposure by asking your employer. It could save your life!
